Web Innovators Group 25 Recap

WebInno 25 was last night

If there’s one tech event in the Boston area that everyone seems to know about, it’s Web Innovators Group (WebInno). Organized by Venrock’s David Beisel, it happens quarterly, and last night hundreds of local techies and entrepreneurs hit up the Royal Sonesta hotel in Cambridge to check out all the companies there to present.

Here’s a quick recap of the 11 local companies showing their wares at WebInno 25:Web Innovators Group is always broken into two main attractions: The “Main Dish” presentations and the “Side Dish” demos. WebInno 25 also featured a pretty cool panel discussion by “cereal entrepreneurs” David Cancel, Steven Kane and Tom Gerace. Check the hashtag #WebInno25 for quotes we grabbed during the panel. On to the companies!

Main Dishes

Noteflight - www.noteflight.com – One of our favorite products of the night, Noteflight, lets musicians write, view, print and hear music notation right from their browsers. This cloud-based software stores the music you write and let’s you share it with other users. They operate on a free-mium model and currently have traction with over 60,000 users. Their presentation didn’t just resonate with us — they won the Audience Choice Award at WebInno after the Main Dish presenters wrapped up.

Swift Mobilewww.imswift.com – Focused on the pain points associated with throwing conventions and large events, Swift Mobile lets organizers supply venue maps, local maps and transportation system maps so attendees can figure out where they’re going from a single application. It could be perfect for all you directionally-challenged jet-setters out there, but you’ve got to get the conventions you’re attending to sign up. It’s currently available on iPhone, but is scheduled to be released on other platforms soon.

Trefiswww.trefis.com – Trefis’ product breaks down a brand’s stock prices into product segments. For example, Trefis can tell you what percentage of Apple’s stock price can be attributed to the popularity of the iPhone. You can also submit “what-if” scenarios, to get predictions from the Trefis system. While we’re a little skeptical about anyone’s ability to predict the way stock prices would change based on specific criteria (there seem to be too many variables to remain accurate) this is a cool product worth playing around with.

Side Dishes

Vizibilitywww.vizibility.com – As user-generated content proliferates, this is just one of the companies trying to make it easier to promote what you want people to see when they search for you.

Shortbordwww.shortbord.com – We told you about these guys a few weeks ago — they’re letting you “get sponsored to surf the web.” They just launched in private beta.

Textaurant - www.textaurant.com – We’ve told you about these guys as well. They’re making it easier to to avoid waiting in crowded waiting rooms at restaurants by pushing table notifications to your phone.

Sustainable Minds – www.sustainableminds.com – This software helps teams “estimate, evaluate, compare and track the life cycle environmental and uman health performance of products — in the earliest stages of design.” Couldn’t have said it better myself.

Geolenz – www.geolenz.com – Organize your geo-tagged pictures quickly and easily with this product.

HomeFieldwww.teamhomefield.com – This company lets coaches and players get more from their game films in video interface designed specifically for them.

Conversation Associateswww.lytiks.com – Simplifies web analytics. Not going to lie. I didn’t get to talk to these guys, but I’m all about more consumable analytics.

Vuuch – www.vuuch.com – “Like Facebook for files.” This product lets companies better monitor discussion of deliverables and makes sure operations are streamlined.

Kyle Psaty I would love to set up a demo of our Lytiks platform for you to look over if you would like. I wish we had a chance to talk last night at WebInno. We could do a quick GoToMeeting if you would like? I look forward to meeting you. @djenkins44
