I agree, the events you listed are also good ones to attend, but I kind of wanted to keep it less daunting. I listed these three in hopes that people new to the “networking scene” would feel that it was manageable. These three events are a good way to get your feet wet. Overtime, those new to the scene can add more events like Tech Tuesday.

Tech Tuesday
Mass TLC/Dan Bricklin's monthly event is always a great gathering of the tech community to show off what's next. There's usually a few really cool demos of new tech, often things coming from MIT.

Vilna Shul panels
Doug Levin does an amazing job of bringing in local brilliant minds like Harvard Business School professors and local VCs, Angels and established entrepreneurs. There's great networking before and after the panels too.

Open Coffee
This weekly Wednesday morning event always brings a diverse crowd of founders, innovators and investors together for some very productive networking. If you're anywhere near Central Square in Cambridge on Wednesdays, you gotta check it out.
