What is HeyHubspot.com?

Thoughts from our incubator, Hangout Hub, on 20-year-old Yifei Zhang’s new desperate-times-call-for-desperate-measures blog, HeyHubspot.com. Zhang has created the whole website in an effort to obtain a marketing position at Hubspot, which, as we reported last week, is hiring.

Zhang has already completed a telephone interview with Hubspot, and is awaiting an in-person interview on Jan. 19.

Is this kid crazy?

Maybe he’s crazy-smart.

We think it’s too early to say.

  • Good job, buddy.
  • About 5 years ago, a friend organized his friends into a word of mouth campaign to get hired at BzzAgent and that worked. There are worse things Yifei could do to get Hubspot's attention. Good luck to him!

I am a little worried that if I ever have to hit the job market, this will be the standard. What if this type of thing just isn't me? I give props to Yifei, no doubt, but I can't really see myself pushing much attention towards myself.

Anyways, Yifei- best of luck to you, I think you might just get the job. Whoo!

Should have also mentioned in the video that Yifei was NOT hired by Seth Godin. His last effort to use the web to get hired fell flat. Perhaps he learned a thing or two during the last go-round.
  • Can't tell you how much I appreciate the feedback, guys! Lots of great points, I'm going to rewatch this and respond in an upcoming post. You guys rock!
  • A slight correction:

I wouldn't call any of the contact I've had with HubSpot "interviews." Just conversations for now.
  • Love the video! Oh heeeeeyyyyhubspot - hope you shout out some thanks to BostInno!
  • Smart!

Holy wow! Our first video blog gets a comment from Steve Garfield! Now that's a home run by any definition! Thanks for the comment, Steve!
