It’s that time again when we take a second to point you to some of the other great tech coverage in the local area.

What’s that you say?

Why would you want to read anyone else’s tech coverage when BostInnovation’s is so darn nifty?

Hmm. You’re right. BostInno DOES provide the most entertaining tech news in New England. But we’re not letting it go to our heads.

We just like talking to people. And we’re easily distracted so we talk to a lot of people. Plus, there’s so much interesting stuff going on in Boston’s innovation sector that nobody notices: Great web startups, IT companies big and small, and…

Xconomy’s Eric Kutz profiles Sensobi — an application that makes organizing your Blackberry address book a snap. Too iPhone and Droid eat Blackberries for breakfast. Aw snap!

Tim McLaughlin from Mass High Tech noted that MIT has green-lighted campus expansion despite a rough year for endowment.

Ryan McBride from Xconomy took a hint from our  Holiday edition of Media Maven and circled back around to talk about all the new tech deals struck during xmas and New Years.

Mass High Tech’s Jackie Noblett explains that local environmental leaders have agreed on which Atlantic waters will be made available for renewable energy projects in Mass. Let the the wind and tidal energy-generating begin!

On Tuesday, both Mass High Tech and Xconomy reported on Apple’s acquisition of Waltham-based Quattro Wireless. This was a big move for Apple in the mobile ad realm. Let’s hope mobile carriers are tactful about mobile advertising’s expansion… The ads Garmen puts on my GPS while I’m  trying to drive are annoying.

Mass High Tech reports that Brightcove — a local online video platform — has a new COO, David Mendels, who was previously with Adobe.

Mass High Tech’s Galen Moore and Xconomy’s Wade Roush both announce that virtual goods designer Viximo has a new CEO: Dale Strang.

Jackie Noblett of Mass High Tech reports that, despite a dismal year for VC funding, local cleantech companies raked it in last year — pulling 21 percent more funding than in 2008!

Mass High Tech’s Craig Douglas announces that EchoNest, based in Somerville and armed with what BostInnovation thinks is some pretty powerful stuff, secured some $1.3 M in funding. Awesome!

Boston World Partnerships‘ blog lays out Mayor Thomas Menino’s innovation agenda. This was a big part of his inaugural address on Monday and spells good things for the sector over the course of this term.

The Boston Globe’s Megan Woolhouse reports on a Plymouth, Mass., man whose laptop overheated and burned his house down. That’s why your mom says to shut it down when you’re done! Gosh!

Brendan Lynch of Mass High Tech reports that local robotics startup Harvest Automation — started by former iRobot employees and dedicated to creating bots that make manual labor easier for humans — secured funding.

Gregory Huang from Xconomy’s Seattle branch (what?) talks to some MIT Business students about their thoughts on a number of high-profile tech companies as these students begin to consider pursuing careers in the tech sector. The students were on the left coast together to check out the companies.

Mass High Tech’s Jackie Noblett reports that the University of Maine has secured $12 M for offshore wind technology. If you’re thinking of going to school for cleantech, this should be on your list of places to check out.
