It’s not just a high five; it’s the Hire 5.

Bring on the fun! ...I mean money!
Okay, maybe the name is a little cheesey — we can admit that — but the news isn’t.
As we reported last month, Boston’s IT sector has been steadily growing since 2004 despite the recession. That means people have been joining IT companies in Boston at a steady rate, a trend that appears to be continuing. This is the first in an ongoing series of posts about cool Boston companies looking to grow, and what positions they’re hiring.
Without further adieu, here are today’s Hire 5:
1) Hubspot
Arguably the coolest tech company in Boston, Hubspot is known for it’s open, collaborative culture and awesome workplace environment. According to their site, Hubspot is hiring an account executives, content marketing managers, customer success managers, software engineers and summer interns to name a few. Their job board lists way more, and we’ve heard whispers that they’re planning to make some serious additions this calendar year. Keep ‘em on their radar, and stay on theirs by maintaining your social media identity.
2) SCVNGR
We reported on their $4M round of funding in a post last week, and SCVNGR is looking to bring in more people to help build out their awesome smartphone scavenger hunt technology. The CEO told us SCVNGR is looking for Ruby, iPhone and Android developers as well as sales people. By the way, he is 21 years old, so don’t be expecting any stodgy old suits to end up sitting across from you if you get an interview. Be yourself with this kind of young startup. If you’re what they’re looking for, they’ll know it.
3) Google
Everyone knows Google re-invented office culture. The company remains one of the most desirable places to work in the United States, and from what we hear, their Cambridge office is no departure from that standard. Their job board currently lists four categories with openings: software engineering, enterprise opportunities, advertising sales and customer support, and administrative. If you get in there, give us a call and let us know if their drinking fountains really are filled with chocolate milk. We heard that somewhere…
4) Textaurant
One of the newest startups on the scene, we reported that Textaurant is testing its product at two Boston-area restaurants back in mid December. They’re now looking for four new hires: two developers and two interns. The CEO, Josh Bob, is a good dude who’s pretty straight-forward. No guarantees, but we bet Babson grads could have a leg-up in the competition.
5) TechTarget
A sort of tech company Sherpa, TechTarget helps tech companies target their audiences. (Hence, the name.) They’d be a good place to start if you’re really into Internet content. (We like to think everyone is.) According to their site, they’re adding writers, editors and sales people.
Oh and BostInnovation is looking for new writers with a serious interest in the local tech scene. Be sure to hit us up if you’d like to try writing for us!
